Thread starter mcdodd Start date May 28, Hi, I have to rasterize part of an image and keep the text layer solid but when I import the vector file created in Illustrator on layers as either rgb eps or psd when I select the layer to be halftoned the rasterize option is greyed out?
I have tried all sorts of combinations to get it to work but it still stays greyed out? It's driving me mad now Using latest versions of Adobe software.. Val47 Boudica Nite. Click to expand Do you have the correct layer selected when trying to rasterize? I just tested this here on Photoshop and it seems to work okay I am starting to work with DTF printers and white toner printers and some artwork requires creating halftones for negative space making the final print much better feel on the garment.
It is only the circle and detail layer that requires the halftone, the text is to stay solid. Last edited: May 28, I downloaded the file and checked it. It is grayed out because it is already rasterized. Adam Vreeke New Member. Hi, many thanks for your reply. So how do I save from Illustrator without it being rasterized please?
I've tried exporting as eps, as psd all with maintain layers. I've even opened the eps in coreldraw and exported that way.. I must be missing a step somewhere.. I know it's possible Is there something missing that I should be doing to be able to rasterize the layer??
Thanks in advance. Quoted text hi, another possiblity It said to rasterize the layer before adding the mask but I've just tried adding a vector mask and now the rasterize is available. Can someone explain simply what it is rasterize does? I've looked online and it says that it converts to a raster image but what are the advantages or point of this?
Vector Masks Vector masks pick up where pixel masks fall short. Vector Masks are ideal for masking crisp-edged objects. The disadvantage of vector masks is that they are unable to vary pixel opacities; they are basically either 0 or For this reason, many masking jobs require a hybrid implementation.
By using a vector mask to define the solid edges and a pixel mask for the more complex areas or for varying opacities, you can effectively extract objects while maximizing flexibility. People who us Adobe Photoshop probably know that Adobe Photoshop, whatever they make, a design shape or image, it is molded in a vector layer.
This means to say that in case you look closely at these vector layers, the edges of the object would be vibrant and sharp. When you rasterize a layer, you make the image editable for a pixel format. The time you made this decision to rasterize a layer, there are chances you might lose the quality in case you are up for editing.
To do it open Adobe Photoshop, or open a new artboard and draw the shape you want to draw. Then right click on the layer you need to rasterize. You would be able to see a dropdown list of all the settings and options for affects you can apply on your design.
Tap on that to rasterize a layer. Press on that to get more rasterize settings. Post Reply. Related Topics Rasterize layer effects?
