I prayed for one more chance to reach you," he said, "to tell you how much I love you and to tell you to keep on loving. Someone else was meant for you, Ivy, and you were meant for someone else. Listen to me," Tristan pleaded. I love you," he said. Suzanne and her thirst for Gregory annoyed me. I may have forgot to mention that Gregory is Ivy's stepbrother who's super shady. I can't stress how much I hate when you have an amazing book, but the secondary characters usually best friends or siblings ruin everything.
Also, I really liked Gary, Tristan's best friend, at first but he turned out to be a douche as well. Then he checked out Will, who was seated next to her, then Eric and Gregory. Ivy prickled. It wasn't as if she were on a date; still, she felt Gary's eyes accusing her. She toyed with a crayon, then nodded her head. Twinkie A girl that Gregory was also messing with. And yes, that's her real name. She promised herself a hundred times that she would go see them.
She couldn't go to that house again, she couldn't! Who are you to judge someone for how they mourn a person's death, especially when they were the last to see them alive.
This was her boyfriend, and she could've died with him. It's not cool, at all! As I mentioned before I thought the plot for this book was pretty decent. I think the series will definitely pick up in the next couple of books, so this was a great setup.
The Ending: view spoiler [I've read a couple of reviews where people said the ending was pretty predictable, but I don't feel the same way. I was shocked by the revelation that someone messed with the brakes. It was shown earlier on in the book that Tristan was a slob look at how he had to clean up his house when Ivy came to drop off Ella not to mention that there was trash all over the floor of his car. I just thought that maybe some trash got under his brake which made it hard for him to push it down to quit from hitting the deer.
I never would've thought that someone would've messed with it. Jan 19, Sabrina rated it it was amazing. This is book is one of the best books I have read all year. Right now i am where Tristion is trying to find out what his mission is I find it very sad how he died in the begging.
I wanted to cry The way the author describes him in the water The water blowing past his muscles The way I see Ivy is a normal nothing special high school girl with blond birds nest hair meaning a mess Jul 07, Carolina rated it really liked it. Feb 26, Jennifer rated it it was ok Shelves: book-challenge , reads. This was just meh. Mar 16, Valerie rated it did not like it. So this book starts off with Which, then ends up being THE car crash which I guess was meant as the climax of the book?
After this prologue-y thing of the car crash, the story then is a convoluted conglomerate of Ivy and Tristan's weird, strange, forced non-existent relationship. It felt like creepy-stalker Tristan trying to get Ivy and Ivy being haras I It felt like creepy-stalker Tristan trying to get Ivy and Ivy being harassed and borderline sexually assaulted by her step-brother Gregory I spent most of the story asking myself a couple of things: 1. It skipped around entirely too much, was not engaging and the characters fell completely flat.
I couldn't relate to ANY of the characters My advice: steer clear of this book! I really enjoyed this!! It was such a quick read, so it kind of felt like a novella, but so much happened at the same time. Jul 09, Bre rated it it was amazing. This book gripped me like none other. I'm head over heels for it, so much that I read the first three books in two days.
Yeah, it's that good. I won't say much, but the ending had me sobbing. Oct 04, Karen rated it it was ok Shelves: two-stars , never-gonna-read-the-sequel , , paranormal. I don't know what I was expecting. Jan 25, Annika rated it did not like it Shelves: didn-t-finish. I must be in a literary famine.
Of the four books I've tried to read this month, only ONE was even worth finishing. This book is not one of them. So to anyone looking for a fair review, this isn't it. I could not waste any more of what brain cells I had left chewing on this ridiculous tween-age warped fantasy of what high school love MIGHT be like. Let me put it this way: Twilight made more sense and had more logic. And that's huge. I like angels. I thought a high school girl falling in love with I must be in a literary famine.
I thought a high school girl falling in love with an angel might be kind of a nice shift from the cold, obsessive Edward Cullen. And in theory, I still do kind of like that idea.
I just need to find it executed better than this. I got to where Tristan answered a want-ad for Ivy's cat. The entire book feels like a thirteen year old girl who might have an IDEA of what Hollywood expects of young romance would write. Felt like Dawson's creek about five years younger. Too many characters talking all at once, and not like teenagers talk anyway.
Nothing revived it. Ivy was shallow, her friends are shallow, the entire premise of this book is contrived. Does Ivy do anything other than collect angels and pray to them? Does she really have any hobbies? Is she good at anything? She's afraid of water, which she overcomes within two pages when the dreamy Tristan decides to take a dip with her and lo, after 11 years or something of intense fear of water, she's fine.
In an hour, with Tristan, in a pool. Really, that's all it takes? Ivy's praying to angels is ridiculous. I get that she collects them, but it's about idol worship here.
She prays to water angel to get her through her water difficulties until Tristan saves her and then her brother prays to Ginger Angel Did I catch that right? Well, and what high school has the drama class reciting poetry from the diving board of the school lap pool?
I was somewhat interested in Gregory, Ivy's stepbrother her mother the hairdresser marries Gregory's father the wealthy It was getting kind of.. I know Tristan was supposed to be so And Ivy was supposed to be our heroine, let's shed a lil tear for her she's so wonderful. Give them some faults. And me, the one who really hates it when authors TELL me what to think and feel, was actually searching for a bit more description here. Okay, keep it real.
High school. Teenage boys and girls in one setting for hours a day. Hormones are running rampant like vampires on a bloodhunt, and all they can choose to see and think are how sea-green each others' eyes are? Don't think so. This is where I'm saying, at least Steph Meyer had a better grip on high school emotions, insecurities, and thoughts. As complex and intense as high school is, plus high school "love", plus a supernatural being May 31, Sharon Mariampillai rated it really liked it Shelves: books-i-have , 4-stars , boyfriend-material , e-books , fantasy , romance , ya , reads , contemporary , must-read.
Actual Rating: 3. I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was great. Tristan was adorable. I loved how he wanted to get Ivy's attention as a human and as an angel. I thought this was a sweet, paranormal story. However, it did not feel as much as a novel. It felt more like a prequel that is introducing you to the story. I thought there could have been more characterization on Ivy's character. She was a bit of a mystery to me.

Still have questions? For that, we can all be thankful, and in that we can be confident. Jesus Christ said that one of the clear identifying marks of His followers would be the fervent love they have for one another John John [34] A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
As a matter of fact, the last six of the great Ten Commandments are all about loving your neighbor as yourself. Thus, in children of God there will be an outgoing care towards other people. We should not be foolish and we should not be naive. God expects us to use wisdom in dealing with others.
Specifically, the command to love is towards another converted person. But in John John For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. We are to grow in that direction. However, we ought to also recognize evil at the same time, and much is written about that in the Scriptures. We will sometimes be hurt when we try to help someone. We will sometimes be used and mistreated. But that ought to be expected from time to time.
Jesus was not insulted or terribly distressed when all of His followers denied Him and ran away to hide. He even told Peter ahead of time that Peter, too, would deny Him Matthew Matthew [69] Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee.
And immediately the cock crew. And he went out, and wept bitterly. We are to emulate Jesus Christ as best we can, and we are to grow in the ability to be like Him. So, though we are careful, we may be hurt.
